Suboxone Strips

@krisjb1 Hi Kris - This is complicated. Suboxone is a Schedule III Controlled Substance because there is a risk of addiction. It is approved only for treating substance abuse. Dispensers require a special waiver to prescribe it, and are required to take training before applying for the waiver. I do not know if "off label" use is permitted with the waiver, which is a common way for doctors to treat patients with some medications.

Your best chance of learning what you need to know is to to find a practitioner with a waiver and ask. Here is where you can look up people or clinics near you:

Again, I'm not sure if this will get you suboxone, but it will get you some answers.

I have been on "Health Unlocked" site and there are patients who have been treated with Suboxone for pain. Some have been satisfied with its ability to reduce or eliminate pain. I will check out the clinics. Thank you.

its to bad that all the so called Doc are afraid of the "O" word it will cause more fent abuse and unnessacary deaths but maybe thats the plan

Not sure your situation but they are giving me Buprenorphine quick dissolves for pain. I'm going to downgrade, the medicine works but it also affects every ounce of my life where I think I would rather be in some pain than be driven by side effects. The withdrawals from this is going to suck. He said he'd downgrade to oxycodone but at low dose. Not sure what that means yet, but shooting for that.

I think they don't want to be censured by the AMA. Fear is their primary motivation for ignoring their patient's needs.

How much Buprenorphine did you take as a non-addict to start? For example if you had an 8 mg strip did you take 1/8, or 1/4 daily? Every 8 hours? I am taking gabapentin at night (300 mg) for an issue with my neck. I understand that gabapentin has a withdrawal issue but when I have stopped due to illness I never experienced it.

2mg twice a day for Buprenorphine. At 40x stronger than morphine guaranteed to be withdrawals. It's prescribed for pain which is why is low dose. If it were prescribed for opioid addiction it'd be 25-50mg.

I've taken about every opiate, NSAID, and antidepressant for pain relief. Suboxone is a sub-par pain medication, it's no more effective than an advil and only lasts for 4 hours, so you have to dose it multiple times a day to get any relief, and it stops giving pain relief if you take it that regularly. And, you quickly become dependent on it as well (ie. you will get sick for much longer than from a real opiate if you stop taking it suddenly). It's not an effective pain medication, it's effective at blocking opiates from reaching the brain and preventing the user from getting high, thus making using other opiates a waste, making it easier to stick with sobriety. I'd never advise anyone to use it for pain, ever.
