Stopping Tymlos

Posted by mdm30 @mdm30, 3 days ago

I was given two different perspectives on urgency to begin a new therapy after completing 2 years on Tymlos. One Dr. siad that I could wait a month before starting another treatment after Tymlos (while we wait for apporval for Evenity) while another Dr. suggested I start on a short term, 1 month, dose of Fosamax for these few weeks while we wait for approval to start Evenity. Not sure what to do with this conflict of information. Others have similar expereiences where there was a wait time between Tymlos and another med.?

I wouldn't wait. If you're going to be taking another medication anyway, then what's the point of taking a month off and doing nothing?

Check the manufacturers website . When I finished Evenity I had similar concerns. I felt my endocrinologist was a bit to casual with his idea of a short drug holiday. The website told a different story. Yeah, I wouldn't want to chance losing any gains you've made on tymlos. I am not a medical professional and can't give advice about what or when to take meds but I can suggest doing your own research.

If you take fosomax it will probably blunt the good effects of the evenity. I would try to wait, if the wait isn't too terribly long

I've been on Tymlos 5 months after a year on Evenity and 2 months on Prolia. The latter two produced minimum results so hope three's the charm. Hard to tell whether side effects of fatigue and balance are related to Tymlos or to just being 82...

Suggest having a pharmacy consult with pharmacy providing your Tymlos. Find out what is known about no med after You tymlos for a month.
My doctor told me Tymlos is more effective if you haven’t taken a bisphosphonate first. There might be some information that would help you make a good decision on this

I have a question for all of you who were on Tymolos. Did you use all 8 clicks at the beginning or were you able to titrate the dose?

I used the max, but some people here definitely needed to start lower, and some were not able to ever get to eight.

One method is to start low, let's say 3, and if that goes well, try 4 the next day, and so on. Find out how far you can go.

I also started at 8. Didn't know that starting lower was an option at that point; I believed the literature 😂. But I had only mild and very brief side effects so I wouldn't have wanted to lower the dose anyway.

Can you explain what is meant by clicks and is this a daily injection self administered? Are there any warnings in a reason not to take this medication? For example, heart problems
