Stent then shooting pains

Posted by jjhowe2honeybee @jjhowe2honeybee, Oct 30, 2019

Son is 48. Had heart attack and had a stent put in 3 weeks ago. He is having short stabbing pain , not every day. Has good days and bad days. Has anyone ever experienced this sporadic shooting pains after having a stent? Is this normal?

Hello @jjhowe2honeybee and welcome to Mayo Connect!

I am sorry to hear of your son's heart attack and his problems with the stent.

Here is a Mayo Clinic website with information about cardiac stents

I'm wondering if your son reported this pain to his doctor? Did your son receive any cardiac rehab after this heart attack and stent placement?

After stent placement I had some stabbing pains that would come and go for maybe the first month, very localized, not pain broadly all over the whole chest.

How is it going now?
I had stabbing pains on a daily basis for months after stent placement. had to take nitro constantly. a follow up ago revealed that its was arteries spasms.
