Stenosis
I have has stenosis for over 30 years. Actually born with it. Never surgery. Just steroids to help. Recently I have a pinched nerve causing Sciatica pain. Does this remedy itself or does it need surgery. Pinched nerves over time can cause atrophy, right?

daveone23, It depends upon what is compressing the nerve. An MRI would tell you. You might be offered and injection to reduce swelling at the nerve root. Physical therapy might help. You might want a minimally invasive surgery if it is the disc causing the pinch. If it bone spurs, you might want those removed. it could be the piriformis muscle pinching the nerve, and physical therapy might be the best treatment.

4 ReactionsI have fractures in my vertebrae
Affecting L2 L3 L4 L5
What drugs should I be taking
linders, my guess would be Tymlos. If your fractures are unstable Evenity might be a faster way of ensuring that they don't fracture further. '
There are other consideration that can make the decision more complicated. Are you seeing an endocrinologist and have you had a bone scan. Is there an MRI indicating age or depth of the fractures.
I hope you aren't in pain.

1 Reaction@linders Why are you asking us? With fractures in your vertebrae if it were me I would be seeking the very best neurosurgeon and ask her. Your condition is too severe to ask a forum this type of question (IMO),

2 Reactionssteve, isn't it good to collect information before seeing a specialist. Sometimes we have to wait to see our primaries and then wait much longer for a specialist to accept our referrals. Your are really in the cat bird seat; your care has been so good. None of the rest of us have our neurosurgeons on call.

3 ReactionsPT is a waste of time for my. I have a small spinal canal so when there is inflamation is causes issues. From the c's to s1. Steroids usually work. Not this time. Surgery is the last option. People i have known who have has surgery are not any better.

1 Reaction@daveone23 I had a fibroma on my L5/S1 vertebrae that was pinching a nerve and causing Sciatica pain down my leg leg. I could never sleep in any position and it was driving me crazy. I had surgery last August to remove it, but the surgeon had to cut through a nerve to remove it. Now I have neuropathy and constant pain in my foot and numbness in my leg from the knee to the ankle. So maybe look around before you consider surgery. Yours is probably different from mine, but I just wanted to throw that out there. Good luck to you.

4 Reactions@insanepain I believe you, surgery is the last ditched attempt. Most people I have known who have has surgery has been a failure. They want to clone people but they cant ever sure the common cold. Think about that.
