Starting FORTEO tomorrow and so nervous.

Any good experiences out there? Worried about serious side effects.

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Osteoporosis & Bone Health Support Group.

May I ask how you are paying for the Evenity? Is it covered by the insurance you are on, and if so, is it commercial insurance or do you qualify for prescription assistance?

Thanks,
YKR

Thanks for your input. I'm on board for trying it, but now having issues with the cost. Did your insurance cover the Forteo? I have Mcare and am on an advantage plan. The co pay is prohibitive. Might need to go back on a supplement to cover the cost. I have lots to check into. I believe I am over income for prescription assistance through Lily.

Take care

I have decided to go ahead and begin treatment with Forteo soon. These comments reduced my concerns about self injection Thank you.

However, I weigh just 82 pounds. I have some fat on my thighs but hardly anywhere else. On my abdomen the skin is very thin. Which leads me to two questions:
1) Has anyone ever had their dosage adjusted for weight? My Endocronologist says my system will flush out the excess if any, but it seems I could reduce any negative side effects by just taking what I need.
2) Is there anyone else who has done the injections successfully into no fat areas? Is it feasible to think that I can find enough injection sights on my thighs?

I have not asked the Endocronologost that question yet. I always feel that doctors will begin to disrespect me if I ask unusual questions.

I pretty well had no fat when I did 24 months of Forteo. It was not a problem. I didn't even think about it. The needles are very tiny.

There's a Forteo savings card available directly from the manufacturer. I believe you can apply for another when the calendar year rolls around.

You'll find all of the info here: https://www.forteo.com/savings-and-support

Except from the that page link:
MONTHLY AND ANNUAL MAXIMUM SAVINGS:
For patients with commercial drug insurance coverage for Forteo: You must have commercial drug insurance that covers Forteo and a prescription consistent with FDA-approved product labeling to pay as little as $4 for a 1-month prescription fill of Forteo. Month is defined as 28-days. Card savings are subject to a maximum monthly savings of wholesale acquisition cost plus usual and customary pharmacy charges and separate maximum annual savings of up to $9,450 per calendar year. Card may be used for a maximum of up to 13 prescription fills per calendar year. Subject to Lilly USA, LLC’s (“Lilly”) right to terminate, rescind, revoke, or amend Card eligibility criteria and/or Card terms and conditions which may occur at Lilly’s sole discretion, without notice, and for any reason, Card expires and savings end on 12/31/2024.

Did you have any problems with this company? They got a very poor 2 star rating from the Better Business Bureau with many consumer complaints.

Guess I'll at least talk with them.
Thanks for your help!

ykr,
Yes, I did have some benefits. I believe I lost the benefits when I stopped Forteo and didn’t follow up with any other treatment.
I have posted about this before. The doctor who was treating me fell, had a fracture, and died. After that, I had a period of no treatment at all. This is all my bad decision. I finally ventured back out and went to see my neurologist who said “ Evenity”, but he antagonized me, so I went to see an endocrinologist who said “Evenity”, so now I am on that path.
Again, no problem with Forteo and some gains.

Susan,
Have you started the Evenity yet, and if so, any side effects to date? My doc is looking into the cost of Evenity for me, but the side effects are troublesome.

Thanks!

Lots of helpful postings on Forteo, but I need to know about Evenity. Has anyone out there been on Evenity for some time? If so, any problems with it? Major concerns?

Thanks!

I too saw the negative experiences of others.

One complained that they would not refund money.

This company is offering a service. They don’t offer a guarantee.

I think those with negative experiences likely failed to follow instructions exactly.

Be sure what you submit is exact and complete.

Fill out the original form. Have your doctor fill out their portion.

Verify, verify, verify that you have everything included.

My Forteo came just days after RXAdvocates received my completed form.

I recommend carrying the form personally to your doctor. Wait there till the doctor completes the form.

Include the copy of your social security statement.

Good luck.

There is a group for Evenity
' My Experience on Evenity for Treating Osteoporosis'
It should be able to answer any questions
