Standing in the shower is painful for my husband's feet. Help!

Standing in the shower is painful for my husband's feet. He has idiopathic neuropathy, Morton's neuroma, plus the padding on the ball of foot has thinned. This all happened within the past 8 months (I'm writing this on 12/13/25). This week we finished a multi-month master bathroom renovation and gave up our tub, so a bath is not a solution. We've tried many Amazon shower mats, but so far our cat's feeding pad is what is provideing some relief. (!)

Surely others reading this have had the same problem standing in a shower and have found ways to ease the pain. Please help!

Can you fit a shower chair in the shower so he doesn't have to stand..Also a small bench which I have in my shower..Available at Amazon. It is dangerous for him to stand. Also, do you have a hand held shower?

The bathroom renovation was finished but there was a leak so we now can't take showers for a while. : > (

It's a very narrow shower and I havent found a chair or bench to fit yet, however, at the suggestion of another MayoConnect person, I've gotten him Crocs, and he has some flip flops, also thanks to another MC person. When we do get back into our bathroom, I believe he'll be okay.

He and I really appreciate all the advice and comments we've received. Thank you!!
