Stage 5 kidney disease

Posted by beach757 @beach757, Jun 16, 2018

Yesterday I had a great discussion about my death with the doctors PA. I am anticipating a transplant end of July. I am doing prehab at the y daily and attending a music and medicine seminar. Just in case, I wanted to know how my death would occur if the transplant didn't take. The PA explained everything, I felt so much better knowing what will happen.,it seems no one wants to talk about dying. But it happens to everyone. The Mayo Connect has helped me cope tremendously. I am much better informed now thanks to this group.

Hello @beach757

What a tremendous conversation you had with the PA. That must have taken a lot of courage and I admire that you did so.

I look forward to hearing from you between now and the end of July. I pray your results will be good and I'm so pleased that Mayo Connect has been helpful to you in this way.

@beach757, Your post has touched me deeply. I was 'there' before my transplant, and I understand what you mean when you say that nobody wants to talk about dying. I am happy that your doctors made themselves available to have this conversation with you. I commend you on your awareness of yourself and your openness to explore it for yourself.
I send you my prayers for comfort, continued strength, and hope that your transplant comes soon.
Please keep in touch.
Hugs,
Rosemary
