Have any of your men used Lupron shots?

@nishok

I meant it caused necrosis of my jaw. Basically a hole opened up in the bottom of my mouth exposing necrotic bone tissue in my lower jawbone. The dead bone eventually broke off and was removed. (about 2 inches by 1/4 inch sliver.). No further issues with the jaw and it is fully healed, no Xgeva anymore.

So are you still taking the eligard? You and my husband have a similar story. He is 62. He had a radical prostatectomy and then 40 days of radiation. He has been on ADT 2 yrs this June. He is considering getting off of it because with his back issues and fatigue he can’t do much of anything. I read that 18-24 months has optimum results. Just hoping cured and that psa will remain the same if he discontinues.

Currently I get a monthly infusion of Zometa, this helps to strengthen bones
There hasn't been any further movement of cancer in the bones

Tell him to hang in there. It is good he has you. You hang in there too. I know it is sometimes harder on the person watching their loved one go through this stuff, since they are so helpless to make things any better lots of the time.

I take Eligard which is the same stuff.

So sorry you both have gone through such an ordeal, both with getting diagnosed and the following treatment. I can only say, (take it or leave it) I grab onto each joyful moment with both hands and enjoy it. And, I let people love me and allow it to touch my heart. I know men have trouble doing this sometimes. But, that more than anything gets me through.

It sounds like we are in the same boat
I found out Mt PSA number in Dec of 2021:all Treatments started in January of 2022

How do u feel without the chemo ?

REPLY

I feel good, I was able to toleratethe chemo well. I had only one major issue and that was about 5 days after my fist treatment. But from there on it was OK. I had maybe 2 days after each treatment that I felt junky but really it was tolerable
