I am sorry you are smacked with this diagnosis. What type of BC and what is your proposed treatment? I’ll bet there are others on this forum who have been where you are.

Best wishes to you,
Cindy

Hello @cwilliane90
I'm sorry that you are diagnosed with this. I'm living with MBC and the initial diagnosis can bring a lot of shock, sadness, and loss of hope. It's only natural. Then one learns to put one foot in front of the other and keep going with this. There's a newly diagnosed peer support group on FB:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/288605145721462

You will find many ladies, young and old, who are willing to share their stories and tips. You can start from there and then you will find many resources.

I highly recommend the book “Healing the Sick” by T.L Osborn. It makes me sleep tight during difficult time.

Hi @cwilliane90, I've also added your post to the Adolescent & Young Adult (AYA) Cancer support group here:
https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/adolescent-young-adult-aya-cancer/

I'm tagging @coffeesd @stephtubman @mamaof2 and @kalola808 who are also young adults living with breast cancer. They get it.

Hearing that you have stage 4 cancer is not what you expect to hear at 33 years old. CW, do you have a therapist or oncology social worker as part of your care team?

Hi there. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer at age 32. I know it's overwhelming right now, but please know that there is hope and a future for us diagnosed at a young age. I had a giant tumor but was fortunate that chemo destroyed it all and I am now 3 years into remission, enjoying life and watching my little kids grow up. I'm a part of a group called Young Survival Coalition, which is one resource specific to AYA patients (young adults with cancer) and I've met many young women with stage 4 cancer who are living years and even decades with no active evidence of disease. There are new treatments and advancements all the time. I also lead a support group for young adult patients at my local Mayo Clinic in Wisconsin, so I'm happy to send you other resources I've compiled if you'd find that helpful. Sending you positive thoughts and strength ❤️Sarah

Sure, I will share the link to the resources I've compiled: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1apKt4VCO52tsPYH5xRNojWX_ABR7HSkw8j0c8BczcCs/edit?usp=sharing (hope that it works okay!). I think that it's normal to feel down at times during the process. If there is something that you love doing that you can make time for, that is something that can help through the darker days. I also found it very helpful to write out my emotions.
