Southeast Michigan Endocrinologist Recommendation for Osteoporosis

I live in Southfield, Michigan which is close to you. So far I have had the best results with Dr. Samina Syed MD, Endocrinologist. She is very professional, and kind, and listens well and has helped me the most. She is in Farmington Hills, MI. I think she certainly will help you. She is also open to having you get a second opinion if you want to. Good Luck

I had the same problem. Very few Endos specialize in osteoporosis and what’s frustrating is that many scheduling personal will assure you that ALL the docs specialize in osteoporosis.

Here’s the filter I use. Do they order a trabecular bone score and do a vertebral fracture assessment

I live in Hamburg, near Ann Arbor and I see an Endocrinologist in Ann Arbor, Dr. Chukwu of Trinity Health. I’ve only been seeing her for about a year, but I like her and she is vey knowledgeable regarding osteoporosis. She put me on Fosamax and so far I’m doing very good with no side effects.

I live near Port Huron but willing to drive. I have seen 2 Endo’s and not happy. First one was an older man who when I spoke about some of the studies said to me; I’m the Dr. when I asked about supplements he told me a waste of money just drink 2 glasses of milk a day. So I moved onto another. Next Dr doesn’t support any supplements either. She suggested Evenity and after some research agreed. My spine is -2.7 and hips are -2.0. Insurance denied Evenity and this was in May. No one appealed it. She called me this week and said insurance wants me to do Prolia which I would really like to avoid. Even though she was against Prolia. I tried Fosomax a couple years ago when I had osteopenia and I had back pain after 3 doses. So I stopped it. This Dr doesn’t want to appeal my insurance she said I’m delaying treatment. Well maybe if they had appealed it in May I wouldn’t be.
