Mine was really sore for long time. It was constantly changing shape and size for 2 months after surgery. Tried many different brands of pouches, rings, etc for sensitive skin. However it does take a long time for the stoma to heal - I think the skin gets kind of whitish. I've found the surgeons once they do surfery don't seem to have much interest and expect you to see the stoma nurses. But the Mayo clinic and other hospitals can only use one or two types of pouches due to insurance and there many other brands out there (european made). One pouch was cutting into me when I leaned forward at work to do my job. Maybe if it's not skin related you should see the doctor.

My experience both before surgery (when I was trying to make a decision) and after was that WOCNs are a better source of practical, day-to-day advice than my surgeon.
Although Mayo and others are limited to using certain brands by contract the nurses I have dealt with are (1) a good place to start to see what is going on (I have sent pictures through the portal and got a response, and (2) are familiar with other products.
You also might try the calling the major suppliers (Hollister, Coloplast, Convatec) to see what they have to say. They will usually send samples to try if it sounds like supplies will help..
I use Byram to order supplies and found our regional liaison helpful in one situation where I was looking for ideas (I'm in AZ).

It was quite a Job settling on a pouch I finally found that Coloplast Mio Flex Convex closed end pouch works best and is most comfortable. I am very petite and shortwaisted so none are really comfortable Due to the bad arthritis in my right hand I cannot use drainable pouches

Is this your first surgery? If so it will take time to heal around the stoma
Yes it is and I am 85 so I guess I dont heal as fast thank you
