Solving Leaking Pouch Problem
I use a Hollister 82711 pouch, a Coloplast Barrier Ring and Coloplast Barrier Skin Spray. I started to have problems with leakage at the bottom of my Stoma. The leakage was minor and did not seep outside the ring but would get under the edge of the ring and irritate the skin around the bottom edge of my Stoma. I am very active and work outside every day for several hours with the temperature around 95. My Stoma Nurse and I have figured out that excessive sweating is causing the problem. Maybe this post will help others.

What is your method for changing your ostomy? I use stoma powder when needed, skin barrier wipe, barrier ring, then Skin Tac wipe before wafer, polish it off with barrier strips. Tried different things over the years, works for me and I live in California desert. Best of luck.
I do everything you do but the strips and since I have slowed my outside exposure (95 + here) my Stoma has cleared. Thanks for your response. Stay safe.
That's great! Take care.
I use a wax sealer Cohesive, never had a leak and I am a very active 80 year old male. After changing my Convatec pouch, with my glove on I take a hair dryer and warm my hand and apply my hand with some pressure to the ring area, I do this 3 or 4 times, I feel I am making a better seal against my skin with heat of pressure. Again, never had a leak.
Could you give me a number for that wax sealer I have not heard of that
Sure, its from Convatec , akin Cohesive seal. REF. 839002. Works for me.
Thanks, When people reply to comments it would be good if they would list the product numbers like you just did.
