Hello, I’m new to the deaf community after losing my hearing in ‘23 related to COVID and IEAID at the age of 30. I’m looking for a community of people like myself who wouldn’t mind joining my group:) We discuss challenges and offer support.

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Hearing Loss Support Group.

MCC is an excellent place to find online support. A lot depends on the topic that is being discussed and who is responding to it.

Are you familiar with the Hearing Loss Assn. of America? HLAA is a national organization that has chapters in most areas of the United States. Those involved in chapters are people with hearing loss themselves, and serve as educators and volunteers who share information and provide peer support.

HLAA is not a culturally Deaf organization. It is composed mostly of people with varying degrees of hearing loss who use technology to remain in the hearing mainstream. Members are 100% in favor of advancements in technology and in medical research that may someday find a cure for different types of deafness. Many members of HLAA have been pioneers in the development of cochlear implants and assistive technology.

http://www.hearingloss.org has information about chapters, the organization's mission, achievements, and opportunities.
