Anyone had joint fusion of their little finger done?
I am a 72 year old male and will be having my little finger have a joint fusion next Thursday. Anyone have one of these before?

Gary, may I ask what led to your needing a fusion of the baby finger?
Very bad arthritis.....no cartilage left ...too many dislocations when I was a wrestler and then a gymnastic coach....nothing helped with the constant terrible pain for last 5 years!
Gary, I didn't have a surgical fusion, but my finger spontaneously fused at the tip after a torn tendon, which resulted in a "buttonhook" - if they could fuse it I would say yes because I am constantly catching it on things and causing pain. But my only option is amputation, and I guess I'm too vain. Besides, they have already done too many surgeries on that hand, wrist and thumb.
Of course, if I let them amputate I would match 2 of my brothers, who performed their own surgery with table saws...

A few years ago I had a small finger fusion because my finger was crooked and sometimes hurt. My finger is still crooked, and hurts more often. My surgery was not successful.
