Skin problem that I cant find any ideas on

Posted by skinproblem @skinproblem, Oct 22, 2022

Hello all. Hoping anyone at all can help me. I have been getting pink/red spots all over different parts of my body for months now.

They come and they go though. Nothing consistent and not itchy or flakey or anything. They come for 30 seconds to 10 minutes and go away.

Also my skin overall has a more red tint then ever before that if I push on it leaves a nice white spot for a few seconds.
Anyone have any idea what this could be coming from?

@skinproblem Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! Bumps and spots can be frustrating, and figuring out what the cause might be can certainly take time. I bet you're glad there is no itching or flakiness!

I have very sensitive skin, and have these marvelous artistic bruises on both arms that result from my cancer treatment. In addition are bumps and marks that appear and disappear at will in other areas.

If I were you, my first idea would be look to your environment. Not being consistent, have you kept any log when they occur? Time of day, where you are, weather, date, etc. See if there is a pattern you can establish. It might be exposure to an allergen like certain weeds or grasses. Might be heat-related [weather or just after a shower/bath]. New laundry soap or bath soap. Different bedding or clothes. You are saying your skin looks a bit more reddish, which makes me think of all these triggers.

Are you taking any medications that might be causing a slight allergic reaction? Perhaps a discussion with your medical team will help you, and giving them insight like the log of symptoms could assist in getting answers. I wonder if they might advise a low dose anti-histamine diphenhydramine [common name Benadryl]?

How does this sound to you?

Hi,
It does look like to me some type of allergy b/c it comes and goes.
I agree with Ginger try Benadryl or even the Benadryl cream. If not getting better may have to see dermatologist.
Good Luck!!

Apprecaite the responses. So far doesnt see like an allergy however. Nothing has changed as far as checmicals ect.

And they just pop up out of no where for very limited times. Almost like a stress reaction or artery/vascular situation.

I have been to a few dermalogists and they dont have any idea what it is showing 10/12 pictures of it all around my body.

I sometimes get a flare up on my face that will come in about a minute then subside within a half hour. Face becomes red and sometimes swollen. I don’t know what the triggers are but was getting them pretty regularly when I walked the dog in the neighborhood. Try taking an antihistamine if you know you are in a place with triggers. Read up on mast cell activation syndrome. H1 and H2 blockers seem to control my flare ups now. I take quercetin and Vit C as well as alpha Lipoic acid daily vs say Claritin and Pepcid.
