Sinus and ear surgery

Posted by karinkb @karinkb, 1 day ago

My ENT is going to clean out a sinus and put a tube in mt right ear. Both places have been impacted for over a year of watching and multiple trials of antibiotics we made the decision to do the surgery. The problem is he is booking three months out. I can't hear in the right ear but the sinus doesn't bother me. I want to here about recovery process from someone who has had the surgery please. Also, he could do the tube in the ear sooner if it is done in the office. Being this is what is affecting my every day life, I am considering it. Has anyone ever done a tube as an office procedure and would you recommend it or not.

I had sinus surgery in 1994....it has come a long way. The doctor opened up my narrow sinuses and cleaned out
the old infection. It improved my life greatly as I was having so many sinus infection each year. I also had tubes as a child and I remember how well I could hear afterwards. Tubes is about an 8 minute procedure in the office
as I had a family member who had it done. Tubes will definitely improve your hearing and keep you from so many ear infections if you are prone to them. If I remember correctly, it took me 4-6 weeks to heal from sinus surgery. With that said, sinus surgery has come a long way since I had it done and it is easier now than it was then.

I have a lot of allergies which cause sinus infections, but, I can breathe so much better still. My son had sinus surgery in 2000. He had a deviated septum and a lot of sinus infections/sinus headaches & narrow sinuses which hold bacteria and they do not drain properly. He hardly has infections now and can breathe wonderfully and is so glad he had the surgery.

I wish you the best and praying for you. I would call the office to see if they have had a cancellation every week
and perhaps you can get in sooner. Blessings & Prayers....
