Anyone had a single-port robotic assisted lung resection?

Has anyone experienced a single-port robotic assisted wedge resection or segmentectomy? It is a new less invasive procedure performed via a single 3-4" incision below the rib cage instead of the traditional 4-5 incision robotic surgery. Avoiding incisions between the ribs is supposed to minimize nerve pain, post-op complications, narcotic use, and cut recovery down to a couple of weeks. Scheduled for it next week.

Wow, sounds like a great technology. Best of luck to you.

In 9/2025 , I had a single port
robotic surgery: RML and RLL basilar segmentectomy .
I had nerve pain , a cough, shortness of breath and fatigue .
Extra strength was sufficient.
I made sure to walk everyday.
The first three months were a challenge .
Everyone experience is different !

@haelsky Thank you for replying. I am scheduled for LLL wedge, possible segmentectomy. They say I should not have much nerve pain because they are not going through the ribs. So much for that I guess. It is a major surgery so pain is expected. I'm glad your pain was controlled with extra strength Tylenol, that's encouraging. I was told 2 weeks recovery, but I agree, every person is different. Did your pain, cough, SOB and fatigue resolve after the 3 months?

@pantfan
Pain resolved by six months
Shortness of breath is intermittent-
Cough effected by cold or hot weather
Fatigue by one year
Walking is extremely beneficial,
I hope all goes well.

All the best to you. Where are you having the procedure?

Thank you. It's at Weill Cornell/NYPresbyterian in NYC with Dr. Jeffrey Port. They are one of the highest volume single-port robotic lung surgery center in the country.
