How to manage SIBO symptoms?
My wife, after years of suffering from debilitating nausea and fatigue, has finally been diagnosed with SIBO as confirmed by a hydrogen breath test. It is estimated the bacteria has had at least two years to grow and may be well established. She has started on Xifaxan, at $35 per pill, but it is estimated that elimination of the SIBO may take up to six months. Her day now starts with her waking up with nausea and when she has a cup of tea and toast in the morning she gets sick within fifteen minutes thereafter. Her sickness is accompanied by violent belching, and at times she regurgitates liquid vile. The only drug she has for nausea is Zofran which does nothing for her. Are there any other SIBO sufferers that are experiencing the same symptoms, and what are you taking to reduce the nausea?

@eileene7 - in the end, I tested negative for both. I was having various gastrointestinal issues, such as nausea, random vomiting and abdominal cramping, and this was one necessary set of tests to get to the bottom of my issues.
My friend's son came out positive on at least one of these tests for fructose and/or sucrose. His treatment has been avoidance. Sounds like it involves a lot of label reading and researching online before the family eats outside the house.
@lisalucier -
Thank you so much for your reply. I thought that might be the case to avoid. Have they been able to figure out what is causing your symptoms? For me, Im wondering if Ive developed some sort of food allergy. Have you ever done any allergy testing? Ive heard from my nutritionist they can be hit or miss. But I have never explored it. Have you? If, can you share which one, was it helpful? Thank you again, I really appreciate knowing Im not alone with gi struggles. Its been really difficult, Im feeling a little hopeless with this.
@eileene7 - in my case, it was finally narrowed down to my taking semaglutide (Wegovy) that was giving me terrible GI symptoms.
I don't know if what my problem is, is related to ur wife sxs.
I went to functional MD. I had nausea all the time for yrs. I was dx w SIFO(intestinal candida) I took medication nystatin. I was very sick taking this due to die off. I had to refill the perscription 3x's before I started to improve. I haven't had the nausea since. At that time I was also diagnosed w SIBO. Although I have improved (no nausea)I still can't seem to completely clear the SIBO. Hoping ur wife finds a resolution that will help her.
