Shoulder pain 5 years after replacement

Posted by Ktgirl @farmgirl57, Mar 24, 2017

I had my left shoulder replaced June 2012 and I am having some of the same pain I had before the surgery. I have RA and my elbows are bad as well. Does anyone else out there have pain after the surgery?

If your therapist is qualified dry needling and taping can help. It sure does help me. I was in pt for a year and now go for dry needling and get it taped up. My husband was taught about taping and tapes me when I need it. Keep up the exercises I do my pulleys every day, theraband regimen twice a week and weights twice a week. Despite issues I am still better off than before surgery. My total knee 10 months ago ended so much better to date. It is awesome! Still doing those exercises too! Therapist told me exercises need to continue for life. Best of luck

I had a reversed shoulder replacement 4 years ago and I still have pain. Any suggestions would be apreciated. A neurosurgeon said he felt it was a pinched nerve in my neck after looking at an MRI. Hard for me to buy into that. Pain feels like its coming from my shoulder and not the neck. My pain management doctor suggested the neurosurgeon. And he wants to open up C4/C5 and put a plate across them to provide adequate space for the nerves too past. I can see what he's speaking of on the MRI but its just difficult for me to buy into that for the pain I have in my shoulder. Another surgery is just what I don't want especially on my neck.

Is it aching pain, sharp pain or electricity nerve pain that you are feeling

Full shoulder replacement 5-1/2 years ago. Started having shoulder pain similar to pre-surgery after around 4-1/2 years, post-op.
The surgeon x-rayed last Feb, the joint was mis-aligned.
He thought it may be due to weak rotator cuff and suggested PT.
I have done a little PT, similar to my regular excercise, doesn't seem to help.
Should pain wakes me at night, even when attempting to sleep on my back.
I had the shoulder replacement surgery to eliminate pain, very disappointing.

Hi there team, I too live with constant pain 5 yrs post a total shoulder replacement. I have had one revision that showed an improvement whilst also confirming the presence of a significant low grade P Acne infection. It was evident to the surgeon and confirmed by the lab. I suspect my increasing pain level is indicative of the same infection and I’m about to book another appointment with the specialist. Prior consultation indicates a two stage revision is most likely the next course of action.

One year post reverse shoulder replacement. Pain with sleeping; cannot get comfortable. Surgeon says x-ray fine. The whole reason I had surgery was pain when sleeping. Now worse. Radiation to neck and scapula
