Should NET w/liver met patient stop rx that has Seratonin?
I have received Samotuline Depot injections every 28 days for a year. I have avoided Serotonin in my diet, but do I also need to stop drug for depression due to the Serotonin connection?
Also Oncologist is substituting Lanreotide every 28 days - does this drug result in same symptoms and effect on my tumors?
All help will be appreciated!

ALSO ask your oncologist and your insurance provider why they are 'substituting' Samotuline Depot with Lanreotide. Lanreotide is the generic for Samotuline Depot. I get the generic and it is working for me so I wouldnt be as worried about that as I would be the switch. I do wonder if it is possible you are confusing the name Samotuline Depot with Somatostatin Analog which are a class of drugs. If that is the case that seems more like a medical decision than a financially motivated insurance one. It is so easy to get these things mixed up when you are there in the office with them. I hope you have someone that can go with you for treatments. Keep us updated. And keep asking questions.

1 Reaction@dbamos1945 what other blood tests? My docter at the University of Wisconsin hasn't had me do any blood or urine tests.
Hi
Samotuline Depot is actually Lanreotide, so it is probably not a substitution.
Regarding serotonin in diet, my husband (grade 1, stage 4, primary in small bowel) has not been following any restricted diet. But you should definitely check with your doctor before stopping any mediciation.
For my husband, the blood and urine tests (chromogranin A and 5'HIAA ) are conducted every 3 months when follow-up scans are done. Now he is moving to 6 month follow-ups after being stable since May 2024, so the scans and tests will be done every 6 months.
Hope this helps.
