Should I get Reclast infusion. If I have Osteoporosis?
Should I take a reclast infusion if I have osteoporosis.? Or if there’s another injection that doesn’t have all of the side effects I’d like to know that name to check on it. Thank you.

3 ReactionsYou need to share a lot more information about yourself than that to get really useful responses. Like, age, DXA scores, any previous fractures, general health, level of and what type of physical activity, do you fall, etc etc. With that people can give useful information back.

3 Reactions@aliv you really need to research the possibility of side effects from that poison ( Reclast) before you say yes, once injected there is No cure from any and all symptoms that you may encounter. Oh! You will be sent to other specialists but they can not find anything wrong, guess it’s arthritis! Easy answer with no cure! It can also cause blurred vision, kidney issues, joint pain! The list it endless! Research first!

2 Reactions@dannyandebbie I'm sure as heck trying to! That's why I joined this group, to see what I can find out. It seems I am damned if I do and damned if I don't. I don't want a fracture, and I don't want any of these side effects. What do you do?

2 Reactions@aliv I as well, do not want any fractures. I’m not a gambler but one sure thing, this Reclast can and does help some; whereas, others are reporting 100% disabilities after the infusion. I cannot nor will I give in and just sit around. Everyday it sucks….i can be walking along, no big alert and all of a sudden, this kind of electronic shock that takes my breath away. At first, what in the hell is going on, what is this; three months later, experiencing it daily, I learn to live with it and continue physical therapy bi-weekly. Should the day come that I fall and break a hip, I’ll know what happened and what needs to happen in order to continue on. Whereas, this infusion, either the infusion is not causing your symptoms or it’s old age crap! What a bunch of BS! Best of luck to those that chose to receive the infusion and best of luck for those that have chosen to ride the wave and take their chances, wished I had!

4 ReactionsI think that one thing I've learned from this group, and other discussion groups, is:
1. Almost every serious, long-term, medication, not just those for osteoporosis, can have terrible side effects. They are interfering in your body's functions in a major way.
2. The side effects are real and can be devastating. The side effects of doing nothing are real and can be devastating.
3. It's a crap shoot. It is. But, as you weigh the odds remember that people whose lives are going well and smoothly are less likely to participate in this and other forums. We need fellowship the most when things go badly, and we also need advice and encouragement more. So, as you weigh the odds, look at research data on the frequency of side effects as well as the (also important) anecdotal evidence. The anecdotes let you consider how bad it can get. Pretty bad.
I'm starting Reclast this month and I'm terrified, but when I weighed my odds of being able to continue to travel, play with my grandkids, and teach, I came down on the side of taking the risk. Other people come out on the other side, and there is no right answer to the calculation.

12 ReactionsI took it because it was the best of the other choices. I had already had a decade of the biphosphonate pills and since I have an esophagectomy, I can't take those pills anymore. It would cause reflux and prolia has to be taken exactly on time or you start losing bone I took the reclast infusion over a longer period of time. I drank a lot of water before during and after and I took Tylenol before and after, and I don't have any of the horrible side effects that other people got I'm 81 I have medical morbidities and I'm just hoping that I don't get any more fractures because I came into this with two spinal fractures, which really cause devastating chronic pain. I'm in PT for balance and osteoporosis and I'm taking tai chi once a week for 15 minutes with someone who comes over to my apartment I walk about two or three hours a day and I exercise 40 minutes in the morning sitting standing and lying with bands and without -----good luck!!!!.

I agree. I took Evenity for 12 months and have had 2 infusions of Reclast due to 3 spinal compression fractures in 2022. My mother had osteoporosis and broke a hip and wrist. She was on Fosamax, recovered from her surgery and continued to teach Latin into her early 80’s. While taking Evenity and Reclast, I experienced minor issues like fatigue for a few days and slight pain in the hip area. I didn’t want to be on any of the medications either since I barely ever took anything stronger than baby aspirin ( as a child) or acetaminophen, but I didn’t want any more spinal fractures. It is a scary journey, and I worry about the future effects of these medications. But, like you, I want to enjoy my adult children and grandchildren. In addition to the medication, I lift light weights, take a few supplements, and walk 3-5 miles daily. For what it is worth, I also use a vibration plate that I purchased from Amazon. If nothing else, it is supposed to be good for the lymphatic system. After Evenity, my spine went from -3.7 to -2.9. Hopefully the Reclast is doing what it is supposed to do.🤞 Take care of yourselves!
