Shirt shopping Very Aggravating

Posted by srobinet @srobinet, Apr 6 10:09am

Hello everyone, I am 4 weeks post-surgery double mastectomy. I am a T-Shirt very casual dress kind of gal. I wore a size 3X shirt before and now everything is too big. Some of my other shirts show the top of the sports bra or a bra let when I try them on. I did wear a size 42D or DD bra before. I have found that some of the sports bra or bralettes tend to roll up from the bottom. I do have a bra fitting later in the month and will go to get advice. Does anyone have any suggestions on what brand of shirts or what type would work better? I am still the same size everywhere else.

@dmr4ever I did not have reconstruction so I am flat. I haven't quite got used to not feeling anything between my chest and shirt. It's getting better and I have been out to stores without anything. Your right everyone is too busy with their own lives to even notice. Even if they did most people would not want to be rude. My bra fitting is in later April.

Good luck with everything. I ended up canceling my bra fitting. Not having to wear a bra is freeing for me. It made me feel like my original self — before boobs. I like it. There is a period of adjustment to manage self-conscious feelings. It’s been almost three years since surgery and I don’t think about it anymore. But at first there are weird moments of phantom boob confusion. It passes.

Also, I wasn’t able to tolerate a bra or even a tank for a year. That added to my unwillingness to get fitted for prosthesis. But I am glad now.
