Im on exemestane.
Irregardless, I wont take the vac and Ive had shingles.
I caught it just as it was starting. Discovered 2-5 redish bumps on my back thigh.
Thought it was the start of a rash and applied Aim whitening toothpaste on them every 2-3 hours, Not knowing what these were.
4 days later, the were still there, started to slightly burn. Went to the dr and she identified them as shingles. She asked what i had put on them. I told her Aim whitening toothpaste. She asked me Why? I said I was taking care of my dad at his home on Hospice and couldnt leave so this is what I had available.
She asked me to use Calamine lotion and to come back in 3 days.
I continued with the toothpaste, saw her 3 days later and the bumps were gone. She asked me if I used the Calamine lotion. I said no.
She was amazed, but hey, it worked for me!
Catching them early was key. Stay in tune with your body.

@3dogngt,

When I was first diagnosed, I reviewed all my immunization with PCP. He recommended postponing any live vaccines, but "dead" vaccines were OK.

Shingrix vaccine is not a live vaccine, so it should be safe to take while receiving treatment.

I would suggest you discuss with your oncologist your immunization history and breast cancer treatment plan to decide if it makes sense for you to get any necessary vaccines during cancer treatment.

Breastcancer.org has page talking about vaccines while being treated for Breast Cancer.

Have you had any other vacines during your treatment?

My oncologist seems to think it would be fine. But since I get really sick with any vaccine, I'm very hesitant. I have found that this forum delivers the truth about everything, so I put more credence in what is said here. thanks for all your help.

Wow! I am really impressed with your ingenuity, @ebtexas55 :)) Could other brands of toothpaste work as well?

Thanks for sharing!

Lol!
I was told by a friend years ago that her daughter used toothpaste on her her pimples. She said it was successful.
When I felt and saw the bumps, I recalled what she said and looked for my toothpaste, applied a few dabs every couple of hours for about a week and voila!

Thanks again! @ebtexas55 :

This is such a wonderful news that our humble toothpaste carries multiple purposes with various functions:) I experienced shingles myself back then when I was in my 30+, it really was very painful beyond words of expression...

Thanks for sharing and best wishes to you all!

Im curious, Who suggested you take the Shingrix vac and why were they suggesting it?
In my wide circles theres not been an outbreak.
Is there an outbreak in your area?
From what Ive researched, shingles is closely related to stress, which I believe was my trigger. My 88 year old dad was dying.
Having cancer IS a stress in itself. So the best thing We can do for Ourself is to be VERY mindful of keeping active, positive and what we put into our body.
Nutrition IS key and Often overlooked and under considered while going thru chemo and thereafter.
Do you routinely take vitamin c, d, zinc, selenium, quercetin, berberine and/or others?
Are you eating only foods that are organic, natural and unprocessed?
A good way to clean produce is letting fruits, vegetables and lettuce soak in a liter of water with about a tablespoon of baking soda for about 8- 12 minutes and rinsing clean.
Have you considered juicing? Its done wonders for me and many others. (Lovingly suggest you look into it.) If you have a Whole Foods around try their Green Goddess and try the Apple Kale just to get a taste.
I purchased a great juicer after trying them at Whole Foods and both my husband and I are feeling the benefits.
If you have a Costco nearby, they sell 3 bottles of organic carrot juice. In our area its housed in the refrigerator section in the aisles where the bacon and yogurt are. Its delicious. I add Amla Green Powder, Groovy Bee Greens+ Superfood powder and a tsp of Bluebonnet Buffered C Crystals and put it in a Blender Bottle.
Are you drinking clean, filtered water? Or boiling it?
Are you outside in the sunshine walking? Do you wash your hands with simple, non antibacterial soap?
My friend suggested years ago that I start a Blessing book. Each night I penned in all the blessings I had been given during the day: a phone call from a friend, a smile from a stranger, an unexpected opportunity, seeing a funny movie, an enjoyable walk and/or bike ride, etc.
Its great medicine! For mind, body and spirit.
You know yourself.
What we put into our body is Our choice. You know more about you than anyone else. Follow your instinct.
If youre currently fighting cancer or keeping it at bay, do your body well by feeding it what God has given us. The body is a remarkable healer in itself.
Ive overloaded you here with no apologies 😉 as Im cheering you on with goodness.

Blessings to you. ❤️🌺🌷🌸

You can get this painful rash with blisters if you ever had chicken pox. It is on my mind as my 37 year old son-in-law who is in good health just had it and it has been very unpleasant for him. So for anyone concerned, I'd get the Shingrix vaccine, which uses a killed virus. Double check as needed with a doctor or pharmacist.

Outbreak, meaning several people in the area have been diagnosed.
My Dads hospice nurse knew I had it and advised me to watch myself by not getting close to him or to touch him. (20 years prior my dad had shingles.)
I took their instructions seriously.
They said if I had had full blown case, and if any of the blisters broke and I was sitting on a couch or other piece of furniture that it actually could be contagious.
I heeded their advice and always sat on a fresh towel a distance away.
But if I had a full blown case, I wouldve been down, too and in pain.
Thank you for your info! ❤️🌷🌺
