I've heard that sever itching can be related to your liver. Maybe have your liver tested?
I question if you have allergies.
Have you changed your soaps, laundry, bath soap, dish soap, hand soap..
What about fabric softener?
Companies are always looking for the cheapest way to make a product anytime. I see new and improved on any label. I question what they’ve done. Can it be a die? Can I be a perfume and so on?
Also lotions is another thing you could check.
Just take a look, At what you are using every day to see if there’s been any changes.
If not, make an appointment with your doctor they may want to do some testing
I wish you the best
With Grover’s disease I itch a lot. Any detergent that says free and clear has seemed to help some. For me hot or cold temps have made no difference. I had an outbreak in 25 degree weather as well as the 95 degree Florida weather. I know what works for one may not work for another. Open to suggestions.
Maybe this would help...I have Itch with water (aquagenic Pruritus) and change in temperature, even slight changes.
On the FB page for AP, someone discovered that when she took her preworkout supplement, she did not itch. She isolated it to Beta Alanine, a amino acid that occurs naturally in your body. I take 750 mg when I start to itch and 15 to 20 later the itch stops. I take 1500 mg 30 mins before showering, for some odd reason, it works best to shower in the evening. I buy the NOW brand on Amazon. Been taking for 7+ years and it works great. There are now a few medical papers on BA for itch.
All of your medications and supplements need to be reviewed with
primary doctor or dermatologist.
You need age appropriate testing for internal causes and allergies.
Great spread of answers !
I had this for 8 or 9 months and it turned out to be internal shingles. Valacyclovir would have helped, I wish I had known sooner- tried so many different medicines that did not work. I am now on a daily dose of valacyclovir.
Severe itching can also be related to kidney disease, my mom would itch terribly from it. I have Grover’s Disease, it was confirmed with a biopsy. I use Calcipotriene which is a prescription and I use CVS Itch Relief and Calmoseptine which someone recommended on the Grover’s Disease Support Group on Facebook. I buy it at Costco but you can also get it on Amazon, it’s cheap. I also find using ice packs help me a lot. With the 3 different things I mentioned, I put each thing on about 15 minutes apart. There is also one other thing I use, Sarna Calm & Cool and I keep it in the refrigerator, which is what my dermatologist recommended, it makes it more soothing. I find anything with zinc or menthol helps.
