Severe Breakout Pain in second toe

Posted by luann262 @luann262, Dec 14, 2021

Hi- I have ideopathic peripheral neuropathy in both feet- for about 10 years. The usual numbness, tingling, hit/cold , cramping. But- for about 4 years I’ve been having severe ice pick stabbing pain in my second toe of left foot. No swelling, no redness, no gout, - had X-rays, MRI , PT - kept a journal to track my habits, footwear, food- there is no pattern. It come about every 7,8 days and lasts a couple days. I’m ready to amputate it. Does anyone else experience anything like this? Help!
Thanks!
Luann

@cmyrule It sounds like some form of neuropathy. A nerve test might reveal the problem. Just my thoughts.

@hotrod83 On second thought, maybe seeing a podiatrist might be helpful. I am having serious issues with both second toes, one is so hammer toe, it is very difficult to walk. I'm waiting to see one. I blame my polyneuropathy on back surgery two years ago. Good luck to you.

The worst of my peripheral neuropathy stems fom the same appendage, left toe No. 2. Six months after Abbott ProclaimPlus FlexBurst360 implant and still a lot of unanswered questions. Turn strength up, turn it down? Ice pack? Salve? Pain not as severe as before implant but still enough to regularly deprive an old man of his sleep. Neither the medical world nor Abbott et al. has answers. Seems left up to me to learn.
