Perhaps your pain management specialists will decide to refer you for a PET scan. There has to be some reason why you are hurting all over. My heart goes out to you. I hope the specialists find a resolve soon. Best, CB

Hi @waterfall7760, I hope your appointment with the pain management specialist went well today. When we have pain and multiple unexplained symptoms, our fears often jump to our biggest fear: Cancer! I'm here to reassure you that many symptoms of cancer are also shared by other conditions. Please do not be parallalized by fear that you have cancer.

I agree with @cb3, that there has to be a reason that you are hurting all over. Good for you for seeing specialists who can help find a diagnosis with you.

Have you been assessed by a neurologist to determine sources of pain? Have you had any MRIs, EMGs/nerve conduction studies, small fiber neuropathy skin punch biopsy, assessment for fibromyalgia, etc.? Did you get the COVID shot(s) and did you get the COVID virus/illness? The COVID vaccines and illness can impact your whole body and cause neurological problems and sense of pain. I have chronic pain (over 7 years) and the COVID vaccines/illness made every joint in my body hurt. Good luck getting answers and really advocate for yourself.

Yes, there are at least two and likely more in the development pipeline. The two I'm familiar with are Signatera and CEA. There may be others.

The downside of these tests are that they aren't a black/white test where it's clearly a yes/no result. However, they can be used to estimate activity of a known cancer and effectiveness of treatment.

I don't know how effective they are for screening.

Hope that helps, without feeding fear.
