Sensitivity to drop in temperature, wind, cold temp leads to ear Pain

Posted by stp @stp, Oct 18 9:17am

Has anyone ever had sensitivity to change in temperature, wind, cold weather causing ear pain, head pain, scalp tenderness w pain. As soon as the temp goes below 60 I feel it. My head has to be kept warm. It’s not my body that is cold. I do have a problem with my neck, that some times gives me pain radiating down behind my ear down my shoulder through my arm. This started after my stroke in 2009. My stroke started with sensation of blood pulsating in both my ears. Next day carotid dissection. Nothing was ever done about my tinnitus or this issue. Thank you and God bless all of you wonderful people!

stp, Praying for you. I am so sorry you are battling this.

My Mama had a lot of ear pain and she would put cotton in both ears when it was cold outside. Do you think that might help?

Sometimes these old remedies work best.

Blessings & Prayers to you....

I also have severe ear pain when it’s cold or windy. I’ve never had it evaluated. I just always wear hats or earmuffs. I would be interested to know if you find an answer

Sometimes I have a slight popping sound and then pain in my right ear. My primary has prescribed singular (montelukast) for allergies as I am sensitive to antihistamines, and this seems to help. You mentioned tinnitus, it's my understanding there is not a cure for this. Is this correct?
Good luck.

I notice that with my autoimmune condition I am more sensitive to my environment than ever. My allergies are bad news and I am sure that they affect my neuropathy. It is not cold out today but there is a breeze which spreads allergens around. I also feel more sensitive to cold and find myself needing extra layers. I have resumed taking alpha lipoic acid--it is said to be a help for neuropathy. Autumn is a pretty time of year but can be rough for sinus or allergy sufferers.

@arcuri24 Thank you for your reply. I wish you the best of luck, and I am going to research alpha lipoic acid.

Sensitivity to temperature changes to a real problem for PN folks. I turn the thermostat up and done all day long. I can't stay out in the sun the way I used to do. I sweat at night and need a hot shower every morning. Go figure.

@hotrod83 this is quietriver89 for Allergies I found the best is Mucolyxir drops you can get it on line only from Nutri Cology that make it is the best. Amazon also sells it.
You start taking one drop Avery fifteen min for one hour then one drop a day. My wife who was takins Allgey shots once a week started taking this and hasn't had a shot or gone to a doctor for 10 years now.. My self I take only one drop when I need it once a month and Grand son who hd sever allgeries also take it and have no allergie problems. I found antihistamines only cause me bigger problems. I do have tinnitus also but haven't found a cure for that yet except hearing Aids. seems to stop it..

@stp, I appreciate your posting about ear pain. I have been experiencing ear pain the last two days. I happened to have an appointment with my pcp about another matter, but I asked if he would check my ears. He could not find any indication of why.
I believe it was activated by the recent cold windy weather and is connected to my CSS issues. It comes and goes without explanation. Very troubling.
I am definitely going to try the hat/ear muffs.

@quietriver
Thank you for sharing this information. I will check it out. I can't take regular antihistamines, very sensitive. Perhaps your recommendation might work.
