Sensitive guts

Posted by helen1000 @helen1000, Jul 9 7:09am

Does anyone have a sensitive gut like me? Sometimes I eat random stuff and have a diarrhea. I am intolerant to wheat and lactose so I am sure if I eat anything containing these two ingredients, I will have bloating or gas or have to go to bathroom. But sometimes after I eat vegetable juice, I still feel bloating or have diarrhea. So I am curious anyone has similar situation and how to deal with it.

Thanks for any input.

I think any health problem is also related to hormone level especially for females. Human body is a system.

Again Shelley, it is personal choice. Cold water irritates my gut and I feel cold and uncomfortable. I prefer warm water, and it warms my stomach. Maybe Asians are different lol.

@helen1000 maybe so, as I am East Indian and I cannot drink cold water either! I prefer warm or room temperature water. In North America people seem to like ice in their water - or at least chilled water - and other cold drinks so I always have to request no ice when eating out but sometimes even the water with no ice comes chilled, so now I just ask for a cup or mug of hot water. lol.

I agree with helen1000, also on the point about the wrong foods. I took avoid cold food and drinks. You may have IBS. Check it out and see. There is also something called FODMAPs, types of carbohydrates that trigger IBS. Also, as far as drugs go, there are ones to help with IBS-D (but not IBS-C).

I have a condition called CVID. Common Variable Immunodepression or Boy in the Bubble disease. Not as bad, but I don't make antibodies to viruses or bacteria so I give myself blood plasma of IgG gammaglobulin of other peoples antibodies. So the latest gastro news for people like me is not to take probiotics. I also have low IgA which messes with your gut. I happen to be taking a very small amount of Lyrica for another condition and it seems to be slowing down things so might be a blessing. I also stopped drinking the protein drink I had been drinking every morning with lots of added "stuff" in it and switched to Truvani protein powder which is really clean and tastes good and that doesn't give me a bloated feeling after drinking. This has been a thirty year fight.

@gussie - Truvani I is not available through the Canadian Amazon site … I will check in health food stores, but usually if something is not available on Amazon then very likely it won’t be available in stores here either …🤔

Oh I'm sorry. It's sweetened with monk fruit. My husband found it too sweet but I really like it.

IBS-C Bowel Syndrome-constipation and IBS-D Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Diarrhea. Some people only experience one or the other while many experience both.

IBS = Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Certain foods, as well as stress, can be independent triggers. It sometimes manifests as diarrhea; it sometimes manifests as constipation; sometimes people have both. A gross oversimplification is that everyone should be pooping a banana-sized stool. If you are not, it could be something you are eating or feeling. One doesn't have to overthink this unless one is experiencing defecation problems or gut discomfort.

I have had IBS-D for over forty years. Thirteen years ago I went gluten free and mostly dairy free. It has helped somewhat. I try to follow the FODMAP diet for IBS. It's not only about gluten and dairy but certain sugars in foods that could trigger the symptoms. For instance I can't eat apples or watermelon or most stone fruits but I can eat avocados and asparagus which is on there. There are FODMAP lists on the internet. I recently was getting terrible pains and diarrhea and found I can't eat anything with spirulina. It was in a protein powder that I had been using and also a cereal even though both were grain free. It's a lot of trial and error and label reading.

OH! What I wouldn't give for a banana 💩. Skinny worm mounds is the most solid form I have had in years. I have a whole cheat sheet of abbreviations for my bizarre 💩 and lack of any 💩.
I don't know how you all feel, but I will vote for the president that knows a magic phone number to God, and get get a good trade in value for my whole GI tract and then get a brand new one ‼️👍‼️ Is this really too much to ask for? 😛 HaHa. Shelley
