Senior diarrhea

Posted by marilyncarkner @marilyncarkner, Nov 1 5:45am

Active 76 year old with pretty regular bowel movements . Suddenly with a 3 second warning ..complete evacuation ….I am not ill, it is not food related and I just do not understand it.My mother started this at this age and it greatly affected her life style. She lived on Imodium for the rest of her life. That obviously did not fix the problem but there did not seem to be an answer to this unpleasant situation . I swim … every second day… can you imagine … won’t go there. Any thoughts on this greatly appreciated

What's wrong with Splenda? Why is it being replaced with sugar alcohols?

Jump to this post

I don't know why companies all of a sudden started changing Splenda. It is the ONLY artificial sweetener that I can use without side effects. Take a look on the shelves in your store. Splenda is being replaced with Splenda mixed with Stevia. I can't stand Stevia. It is far to sweet for me. I don't use it much for "baking" as I gave up most of those goodies a long time ago, except at this time of year. I do become a Christmas Cookie Monster, but I eat those cookies with real sugar. I actually went out and bought a whole bunch of the boxes of 1,000 packets of Splenda before it ends up missing from the shelves. Even now, those boxes used to have 1,200 packets, but those are no longer. I have hot chocolate every morning to start my day, because coffee or any of the dandelion coffee or other replacements leave my stomach so acidic that it will regurgitate back up on me. I have a very large mug, (2 cups) and this is for my pure enjoyment. I'm trying to find decaf tea that may be pure enjoyment, but when you were brought up on coffee, it's difficult to switch over to tea.
I noticed the switch with the Good Humor Fudgesicle when all of a sudden a green banner came across the front of the package late in 2023. The first thing I did was turn it over, despite the front stating BOLDLY that it is the "Original Fudgesicle." There is nothing original about sugar alcohols and it wasn't put in food back when Fudgesicles first came into the market. THEY ARE EVEN PUTTING THIS CRAP IN DOG TREATS, and sugar alcohols are poisonous to pets. Look it up!!! I wrote the company and ask why they would put sugar alcohols in a product aimed at children and received absolutely no acknowledgement. A former county commissioner, who was a friend and in his senior years, started having numerous embarrassing accidents at board meetings. Unless you are on top of a restroom, you cannot get there in time. After months of doctor's visits he was told to write down everything going into his mouth -- AND THERE IT WAS -- Sugar free chocolate, laced with sugar alcohols, that he kept in his shirt pocket for late meetings when he was getting hungry. Doctor told him to quit them immediately, and until the day he died, he carried one in his shirt pocket to share his experience with others to prevent them from suffering the same embarrassment. Look at our "protein drinks," something easy to count on for gastroparesis attacks. Now, I make my own, because everything is laced with sugar alcohols.
