Semen pH 6.8

Posted by nickn100 @nickn100, Nov 25, 2018

I had my semen analysis done in March and the pH was 7.2 normal. I had it done again in October and pH was 6.8 out of reference range and acidic. I had a thyroid surgery in September as I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer and also had my lymph nodes removed. I am also taking 200mcg of synthroid. I was also diagnosed with low T and progesterone.

Hello @nickn100. Welcome to Mayo Clinic connect. Thank you for posting.

What is the normal pH? Was the thyroid surgery the reason for lowered pH?

Normal pH is >7.2 according to WHO standards or 7.0 according to AMA. Thyroid surgery was done because of a goiter that was discovered on my neck. Whether the surgery or medication caused the lowered pH is my question that I initially posted.
