Self catheterizations
What is the long term effects of self catheterizations? I am a male and have to use a catheter about 8 times a day. I want to stay active and a long term catheter would not be the best right now or am I causing long term issues (I am 65 and been self catheterizing for three years).

Are condom-type catheters possible in your situation?
My dad was a C-5 quadriplegic and used a Foley and got bladder cancer. They can increase the risk of cancer since the catheter and infections cause irritation. We switched him to condom-type catheters, but it was too late, the damage had been done. As far as multiple catheterizations daily, I don’t know what the risks, if any are.
