Has anyone had Fludarabine & Bendamustine chemotherapy as a conditioning regiment prior to stem cell transplant?

Hi @dsmithrealtor. When undergoing a stem cell transplant where you’ll be receiving an infusion of blood stem cells, either your own or those of a donor, first your bone marrow and lymph system needs to be cleared of any remaining cancer cells. This will basically prepare a squeaky clean environment for the newly infused cells to set up housekeeping. To do that, there is a preconditioning round of chemo necessary to complete the task; Often Fludarabine in combination with another chemo drug such as Bendamustine, Methalan, busulfan, and/or other agents.

If you would share a little more about your story, I’d love to help you get prepared for your upcoming SCT. There is a growing group of us in Connect who have gone through the stem cell transplantation for various blood cancers or other situations requiring a new immune system and we’re willing to help guide you along the way.
Are you having a stem cell transplant using your own cells referred to as an autologous transplant (ASCT) or a Stem Cell/ Bone marrow (BMT) transplantation using donor cells. There is a difference between those so I’d like to make sure you get into the right group.

What is the underlying condition that has you requiring an SCT? Do you have any specific questions? Are you in remission? What is the timeline for your transplant?

@dsmithrealtor, how are you doing? Have you started the conditioning chemo yet?
