SCLC DIET
Six years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Approximately six months ago I was diagnosed with SCLC. Is anyone aware of any specific foods that would helped combat the lung cancer. There is so much on the internet but no way to know if any of it is valid. My doctors don’t seem to want to discuss it.

While going through chemo, any calorie you can get in you is great.
If there is an oncology nutritionist at your care center, ask for a referral. If no oncology nutritionist, ask to speak to the nutritionist on staff at the hospital.
I do know that you should get a minimum of 90g of protein a day. The body can only absorb 30g at a time.

3 ReactionsThank you. There is a nutritionist but she doesn’t provide any information regarding the types of food that are best for fighting this cancer. What I’ve read refers to lots of vegetables like tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, and not to sear any meats. I was not aware of only absorbing 30g of protein at a time. I assume that’s per meal? Thank you so much for responding.
I also have been running low blood pressure. I’ve read that lots of water helps. And pickles and olives are a good choice because of the salt content.
Again, thank goodness for responding.
hi @bkwood There are several cancer related cookbooks. If you have the energy to cook, you might want to borrow them from your local library first, to try them.
