Salicinium- treatment for cancer

Posted by s2bcf @s2bcf, Jan 28, 2023

Hello-
My dad has metastatic colon cancer. He is currently about 6 months into being treated with Salicinium. He started with the traditional IV doses and then has continued with the oral. Nobody in our area is familiar with this treatment. We are looking for some kind of support/chat group, or any personal experiences from others have experienced in their first year of treatment with Salicinium. This has not been an easy road and I feel like we would have some sense of comfort in just talking with others have have shared our experience.

Welcome, @s2bcf. I see that you and your dad are looking into integrative or alternative therapies for metastatic colorectal cancer. Salicinium or salinomycin is a treatment that shows promise in test tube (in vitro) and mice (in vivo) testing. More study is required in human clinical trials to confirm its efficacy.

See this review:
- Salinomycin as a potent anticancer stem cell agent: State of the art and future directions https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9298915/
See this excerpt:
"Salinomycin has been used as a poultry medicine for a long time and found to be an anticancer agent since 2009. Mounting data have been published in various cancer types regarding its anti‐CSC activity from preclinical research both in vitro and in vivo. However, it has not been widely used clinically in humans."

@s2bcf, is your father in a clinical trial? Is this a treatment that was recommended by his cancer care team?

REPLY

No he is not part of a clinical trial but has been given this treatment by his medical team. We are looking for other patients who have had similar treatment. Some kind of support group for this integrative treatment.

Unfortunately my dad passed away in May. I do think the salicinium helped prolong the time he had left with little side effects compared to chemo, however his cancer was just too progressed.

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. It was special that you had a few more years to spend together because of the treatments he was receiving. Cancer takes way too many of our loved ones…

The best resource I can give you is an email for Suzannah Roberts, she works for the manufacturer of Salicinium and was an AMAZING resource for us. She was very good at responding to emails. She could help you far better than I can. suzannah@forperfectbalance.com
