Safety Concerns - How do you cope?
I worry about my safety when I'm out at night alone going to/from my car because I can't hear if someone is approaching and feel very vulnerable. I'd love to hear how others deal with this challenge.
Obviously, when a human is available I ask them to walk me to/from my car but that's not always possible.

Ok, I bet you have heard it before. 1. Be aware of your surroundings. 2. Park your car in a lighted area. 3. Carry in your hand a small container of pepper spray ... no do not carry it in your pocket book, carry it in your hand and leave it in your hand until you are safely inside of the car.
The key words are "carry it in your hand." And,
Always wear your hearing aid!
Yep! Key between two fingers for jabbing. Many moons ago, before I had hearing loss I was the co-chair of the safety committee at my workplace for 10 years. Unfortunately, at the time living under a rock and unaware of diversity and inclusion, so topics like how to adjust for a person with a disability were not covered.
I recently bought hearing aids
Rexton , I can hear my own footsteps as I walk anywhere.
And anyone else
I don’t go out after dark by myself!
