SABR or RFA for lung cancer?

Posted by martin77 @martin77, Nov 30, 2025

After successful surgery for colon ancer in 2022 and liver cancer in 2024 I was diagnosed with lung cancer in February this year - 2 small tumours in each lung. The right hand lung was treated with radio frequency ablation (RFA) in October which caused considerable pain afterwards but seems to have been successful. Now it's time for the left hand lung to be treated either with RFA or with SABR (highly targeted radiotherapy). Does anyone have experience of SABR which they could share with me? Thanks.

Hello @martin77 , It's great that the RFA was effective. If you have that treatment again, I wonder if there is more that they can do for the post treatment pain.
@junerose42 recently had CyberKnife treatment. Which is not exactly the same as SABR, but I believe they are somewhat similar. Here's a link to her post: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/1449643/

@martin77, I'm saddened to hear that you're now dealing with a third cancer. Or are the lung lesions metastasized colon cancer?

Martin, are you leaning towards SABR because the experience with RFA involved considerable pain the last time?
