Ruptured brain aneurysm, aspirin therapy and hip replacement

Posted by srm59 @srm59, Mar 30, 2025

I recovered from a brain aneurysm 7 yrs ago. I take a daily aspirin. I am preparing for hip replacement surgery. Hospital wants me to stop aspirin regimen 7 days prior to surgery. I've not been directed to stop prior to other surgeries. Any thoughts or information on stopping aspirin for a period?

It is necessary to prevent bleeding while the procedure is being done. They did the same for my spouses surgery on his back. It was not long after that they started it again.
