@pvf1943: On June I, 2025 I started Evenity injections; but, prior to that I took Risedronate 1/mo for 3 1/2 yrs. Begged for DEXA scan to check progress and had 0 bone density improvement… both Lumbar and Hip bone density was worse!! My doc was shocked. I started researching the options available to build back stable bone.
To be honest it feels like a crap shoot, but after checking with all 4 of my specialists they said Evenity was ok to try. I just hate to continue down this uncertain osteoporosis road! However, I will ask my prescribing doc next month for bone marker testing to prove to myself I am gaining bone. My hope is that if I gain enough bone marrow I will take a hiatus from this circus. dbamos1945
I've been on Risedronate for two years with no adverse side effects and an improved DEXA scan after the first year. I have also been taking a higher level of calcium - 1500 mg a day because I also have Collagenous Colitis and take Budesonide (a steroid) for that. I previously was on Reclast and had three annual infusions. My new Osteoporosis specialist was concerned about long-term effects of Reclast - especially the potential for kidney damage - and switched me to the Risendronate. So far, so good!
Thank you for your reply...it sure is a crap shot. Thinking I best increase my calcium.
Thank you for your reply...looks like I best increase my calcium. Stopped Risedronate as I now am battling PMR...one war at a time for me!
Yes, I've been taking Risendronate 150mg. once a month for about 8 months. No side effects.
