Ring engagement was the first sign of cerebral radiation necrosis. I was asymptomatic so soc was to wait and scan again. Next scan still asymptomatic few days later after parking the car at the cancer center I lost my peripheral vision the left permanently.
Crazy logic in the standard of care. They all know once you're symptomatic it's permanent
@sueirv, a ring-enhancing lesion in the brain is an abnormality seen on a CT or MRI scan where a circular area of contrast dye lights up around a darker core. There are a number of issues that can cause a ring-enhancing lesion from a cyst to a new tumor or an absess caused by infection among. Sometimes the shape or thickness can give your doctor more indication of the cause.
Have you had a followup appointment with your doctor to discuss the results of the MRI? Have additional tests been ordered?
Just had follow-up, since this didn’t appear on last surveillance mri 5 years ago, they want me to have a spectroscopy mri in December, we’ll see then if there are any changes, right now it is very small, hope it stays that way. Old meningioma that I had stereotactic radiation to 17 years ago is stable. Thanks for asking.
