Rib pain under right breast and back after eating

Posted by alicat @alicat, Jan 27, 2019

Since September 2018 I have had right rib pain in front and in my back. I have been checked for kidney stones and gallbladder issues which all came back normal. I do have an ulcer without bacteria that was almost healed (Beginning of December 2018) I am on prescription Nexium, gave me antibiotics just in case. After I eat (today scrambled eggs and 1/2 biscuit) I gag, sometimes I do throw up a little. Any ideas? I'm tired of hurting and not eating.

Alicat: Do you have this pain every single time you eat? I wonder if you have sensitivities to some food, even allergies. You can keep a food journal to see if there is a reaction to certain food; the reaction may be hours after eating. Can you have a hiatal hernia, or acid reflux (silent or not silent version)? A lot of people with those issues have back/rib pain. Just throwing stuff out there because you seem to be a mystery. Some people who have alpha gal get stomach pain and digestive issues. Doesn't exactly synch with your symptoms but may be worth checking?

Hi, @manizales314. Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Extreme pain after eating, explosive diarrhea - and without warning - the weight loss and the tiredness sound very hard to deal with.

You mentioned after your recent endoscopy your gastroenterologist said everything is okay. Did the doctor have another theory on what your GI symptoms may be coming from? What did the previous doctors say about your symptoms and what might be going on?
