Rheumatic Fever effects..

Posted by ggfrog @ggfrog, Dec 30, 2024

Hello, I’m not sure if I’m in the right place. Last year, I was diagnosed with Rheumatic Fever after very bad strep episodes. It attacked my hip to the point where I could barely walk. I think I had Rheumatic Fever symptoms for over a week before I was taken to the hospital and treated. Ever since I was treated, I have had lingering hip pain.

I have tried prescription pain medication and steroids, nothing has helped. It’s a lingering pain, nothing excruciating. I notice that if Im standing or walking too long, it will flare up. Some days, the pain is worse.

I’m here to ask if this is normal for the side effects of Rheumatic Fever to last this long. My doctor told me the pain might be permanent. If so, does anyone have any recommendations other than what I’ve tried? Thank you!

You mentioned your doctor said the pain might be permanent. Have you thought about seeking a second opinion or help at a teaching hospital or major health facility like Mayo Clinic?
