Review process for appointment
I read on the website that the review process for an appointment can take days or months. All documents have been submitted. This is an urgent situation needing an ASAP response. We’re after a second opinion regarding radical surgery. Is there any way we can have this particular situation earmarked for a quick response? How can we get this case moved to the top of the pile for such a busy hospital?

Hi @coquest23, I can understand your concern when you are facing an urgent medical need.
Appointments at Mayo Clinic are prioritized on the basis of medical need. Availability depends on the nature and the urgency of the problem and Mayo Clinic's ability to help (as determined by a Mayo Clinic doctor). The complexity of the medical condition and, for less complex conditions, the availability of care closer to home are also factors.
If you have already submitted a request, you can call Mayo Clinic to find out the status of your request. If you haven't yet submitted a request, you can do so and inquire about the review time. All location phone numbers can be found on this webpage: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63
Thank you so much. Mayo has just rejected the application for reasons you mentioned. Thanks for your prompt response to my question.
@coquest23, I know that denial letter comes as a gut punch. I sincerely hope you can find the care needed close to home.
The support from fellow patients and caregivers here on Mayo Clinic Connect remains available for you. Can I help connect with others facing as similar health condition as you and yours are?
Yes, a gut punch for sure! Going to Plan B is not what we wanted, but we trust the protocol and will seek a second opinion closer to home. Thanks for your compassionate response! So appreciated.
