Resected Stage 3 colon cancer, 4/26 LNs. Folfox or Capox or???
Full resection done of a sigmoid adenocarcinoma 4 cm, plus 5 cm margins removed on each side.
It was T4 (through the wall).
Pathology: 4/26 positive lymph nodes.
Therefore, Stage 3, chemo required.
I am being offered Folfox or Capox.
No information on cell proliferation speed or why those treatments other than that they are the standard for Stage 3.
No tests done to get an individualized outlook on which treatment would be the most efficient. I was told there is no way to know. If cells are slow proliferating, chemo may not work, but again, per tge oncologist, no way to verify.
I feel I need more testing to decide on the treatment. Chemo should start in 2 weeks.
Please help with suggestions. Thank you

I had Folfox. Hard on my peripheral nerves but I am here, 15 years later, no recurrence, and EDG checks for duedenum
There is a test, recently standardized, to see if particular chemos will work, also to see if they are unusually toxic to an individual…called DYPD….likely already done along with genetic testing…if so, you have a right to all your medical info, all test results. Insist on having your records—ALL of them…mine are all on Columbia Presbyterian portal- many medical centers have these portals, so you can access your records online…very useful ! Good luck !
