REM ECHO LIGHT BONE SCAN QUESTION

Posted by cmay7777 @cmay7777, Apr 9 2:29pm

I called the number that everyone gave for Mary Peters at the University of South Florida below:
REMS in Florida
University of South Florida (Mary L. Peters, R.T.)
Health Informatics Institute
3650 Spectrum Boulevard
Tampa, 33612 FL
and they had no idea who I was or what I was talking about when mentioning the REM Echo Light Scan. They even gave me another # for a clinic on campus that does scans, and they do not have the Echo Light.
Does anyone have an email address or any other way to get in touch with her or her assistant to find out actual locations in Florida? I have scoured the internet and called places listed, but no one has it. Help needed! Thanks!!

You could try contacting Echolight and asking. https://www.echolightmedical.com/en/find-your-rems-center-in-usa/

I can’t get their website to work for finding a center, but you could contact them through their “Contact Us” form.

I got a REMS densitometry scan at Osteostrong in Lake Mary, FL, in January. This company goes to different locations to do the scans and gives you the results immediately. STRENGTH LABS PLUS, http://www.screenmybones.us
The phone is 1-239-544-4114
It was done very professionally and I was impressed with them.

Was it covered by insurance? If not, what was the cost?

No, it was not covered by insurance. I believe the cost was around $240. It did not differ greatly from my DEXA results, except to show the bone quality was a bit worse than the DEXA showed. I like that there is no radiation with the REMS. I will repeat a year from then (Jan 2026) to help determine if my taking Tymlos is working. It’s just one more tool we can use.
