Replaced one of the two bow legged knees

Posted by rb1229 @rb1229, Mar 21, 2023

Hi All, I am 56-57 male and had my left knee TKR dec 19, 2022 and still suffering through a lot of nausea and sleep issues with my OSA etc. I can walk, drive and do daily stuff after 12 weeks but get stiff after sitting for a while and there is some residual pain. But my right knee is still bowed with Arthritis to the point of bone to bone. After my left knee TKR experience with nausea, sleep issues, I am scared to touch that one. I feel slightly elevated on left knee as it has straightened out. Anyone else have done two knees separately or anyone who has decided not even to do the other knee and lives with the bow?

I am a patient with a childhood injury that gave me a bowed (genu varum) right leg. The only thing that corrected the pain 100% was a high tibial osteotomy and then years later a femur osteotomy. After the second surgery I was pain free because the bowing was in the upper and lower bones that could not be corrected by a TKR. Good luck to you as I understand completely the pain that goes with a leg that is not straight.
