Regimen 2 Taxol/Paclitaxel
I have 2 cycles left of AC. I just started back working after dbl mastectomy and complications. I was under the impression that regimen 2 or paclitaxel was often more manageable than the AC. My coworkers sister had the same diagnosis as me. The sister had a harder time with the paclitaxel. Is this typical for most women? I'm concerned about having to take FMLA again.

Some women find the bone and muscle pain related to this drug harder than the AC. It used to be mostly the other way around because of the nausea involved in the AC. I think now that they have better anti nausea drugs, AC is easier so the that kind of changes the dynamic.
I have always liked getting my treatments on fridays so I have a few days to recover and I am less likely to miss something important on a weekday.
How have you fared with the Adriamycin, Cytoxin portion of the program?
So far I've done well with the AC. I have one more AC treatment after today before I begin the Taxol weekly treatment. I just found out yesterday that I'll be receiving a pegfilgrastim injection tomorrow. I'm hoping that doesn't knock me down.
I had neulasta, the first generation of that drug when it was a brand new drug. It caused so much bone pain, I would not accept another one. Fast forward some years and my husband has a ton of it in a trial for Mayo Clinic, he has no bone pain. Fast forward again to a few years ago when my brother was getting it and the doctor told him to take Claritin the day before and for three days after to prevent bone pain. It worked and it was very gratifying to see how much things get better with time for cancer patients.
Has your doctor talked to you about the Claritin?
Yes, we just talked about it today. I take zyrtec on the daily, she said it works just as well.
Thank you.
