rectocele repair surgery

Has anyone had the rectocele repair surgery and how did you get along with the pain and recovery?

Two surgeons have recommended that I have the surgery, but I am delaying it. I joined a group on FB and it seems that the surgery fails frequently. It is also very painful and those who have had the surgery are completely incontinent for feces. I cannot imagine anything more horrible because I have control now, urgency but control.
So I got a referral for PT and am waiting until the whole thing falls out before I will subject myself to surgery. It is a stage 3 and I'm hoping I can get it back to a stage 2.
I've read many first hand accounts and only about 3 out of 25 say it benefited them. All of them say the pain after was very difficult to take and lasted months. Soooo. I'd love to be wrong about this.
