Rectal prolapse that doesn't recede back inside.
I've read so many posts about this, but none were recent. Anyone who is experiencing this have any advice. Surgery for me is pretty high risk due to lung issues.

@cardigan I have apts. Scheduled starting next week. The problem is that some days I cannot walk without extreme pain both with the prolapse and down my legs. I spend a lot of my day laying sideways to avoid more pain. I've been in tears today from the pain using the toilet. I would go to the ER but I dont know what they'll do until surgery can take place. And I want a Dr with experience with this specific issue. I have narcotics for pain but they actually don't help very much with this contraction type pains. It's actually overwhelming and exhausting today.

1 Reaction@catherine1290 yes I had a coloniscopy with sedation in Sept. but I thought that was just for short procedures. I will definitely inquire when I see the surgeon. TY

1 Reaction@jolam Based on your conditions, I would opt to get a second opinion from a colorectal dr. first….if he/she recommends it too, then I would give the surgery serious consideration. Your condition is much more advanced and complicated….pursuing more medical help and the other suggestions made from others here in this thread is a positive step. A big hug and love to you.

Just had surgery for a painful prolapse that stayed out. So thankful I did. Very little pain, two nights in hospital, prolapse is gone and I feel renewed at age 90.
