Recovering after Endometriod Endocarcanoma Cancer hysterectomy!

Posted by cheriels @cheriels, Oct 19, 2022

Been a month since my hysterectomy was done and doing really good! The most pain I had was lower abdominal pain but is almost diminished. Still have pin drop of bleeding.
Seen my radiologist Dr. Peterson 2 days ago and will have only 3 treatments of Bachythreapy that will start Oct. 31 on a Monday then will go back on Wednesday then on Friday. The first session will take about hour, the radiation will only be 2 minutes but the prep time takes the longest, then when I come back the next 2 times it won’t take a hour. My cancer was Stage 1 and Grade 3, even though they took everything plus lymph node on each side but left the vagina and the cancer had not spread into the Lymph Nodes , I still have to have radiation because Grade 3 is the highest grade which means very aggressive for spreading the cancer, so after my 3 last treatment I will just be comming back for check-ups. So with that being said I am so thankful the cancer did not spread and a better outlook on survival.

@cheriels This is all good news. Now that you are done with surgery and will soon start brachytherapy you are well on your way in your treatment. From what you wrote it sounds like you received very helpful information from your cancer care team. Well done, @cheriels.

I had brachytherapy too and while the experience was a little awkward it did not hurt and I didn't have any pain associated with it. You are having this at Mayo, right? I'm hoping your experience will be as comfortable as mine was.

October 31 is coming up soon! Will you please let me know what brachytherapy is like for you?
