Recommendations for non diabetic PN Dr at Mayo Clinic

Posted by lindacw1 @lindacw1, Feb 21 2:51pm

Hi. 2.5 yrs ago I had horrific burning in my feet and have since been diagnosed with PN. The first neurologist diagnosed me with CIDP and put me on IVIG. My liver enzymes went up and I stopped treatment. Then I saw a different neurologist and I was told I had small fiber. Both Drs were top NYC university neurologists.

I’d like to go to the Mayo Clinic and get another opinion and see a pain medicine Dr , as well. So many Drs, not all interested in PN. Any positive suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. Linda

Hello Linda @lindacw1, Welcome to Connect. I have idiopathic small fiber PN but am one of the fortunate ones who only has the numbness and no pain or burning. I'm sorry to hear the IVIG treatment caused problems and didn't help with your symptoms. While you wait for others with similar experience to respond and you mentioned also wanting to see a pain medicine doctor, I thought you might find the following discussion helpful:

--- Mayo Clinic Pain Rehab Center (PRC) - What’s Your Experience?: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-prc-whats-your-experience/

If you would like get a second opinion from Mayo Clinic, you can find the contact information for
the Minnesota, Arizona and Florida campuses here http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63.
